Lesson 1 transcript: Nationality vs Ethno-linguistic groups & Tribe vs Tribal society
A group of people who are identified by a common language, general culture, and customary/ritualistic practices.
Nationality is the relationship between a person and his or her state of origin.
Example: My ethnicity is Nara, but my nationality is Eritrean.
A tribe is a group of people that includes many families and relatives who have the same language, customs, and beliefs.
No! Eritrea has 9 ethno-linguistic groups, each sharing a common identity because of their language, culture & social construct – with the distinctions becoming less distinguishable
Eritrea has nine Ethno-linguistic groups known as “biher” in Tigrinya.
